The "Softron License Manager" is a free, easy-to-use web platform that simplifies the management of your Softron serial numbers. It is part of a new copy protection system.
Note that there are two places in which you can manage your licenses:
- in any browser, in the "Softron License Manager" platform. That's what we are talking about here.
- from the "Licenses..." menu of your Softron application. Check this other article.
Depending on what you need to do, you will open one or the other. Check the differences between the two here.
The Home Page
Here is an overview of the webpage and its management page:
1. The Header
There are two buttons in the header:
- Support: To get help and access either the “Platform Guide” or the “Help Center”.
- User Profile: represented by your name and icon. This is where you can “Sign Out” or “Edit your Profile”.
2. The Toolbar
The toolbar allows you to perform a few actions:
Here are some explanations:
-
Advanced Filters: Click on that icon to access various filtering options (if you need more than a simple 'search'), which can help you easily locate a specific license or owner/user when managing multiple licenses.
- Use the Owner filter to select from All, Me, or Other Users who have shared their license with you.
- Use the Status filter to find licenses that are either In Use or Available.
- Additionally, you can filter by a specific Application, Active Users, or Active Devices (computers) from your list.
- Search bar: easily find a serial number by typing a few characters. It can be used together with the Advanced Filters.
- Add a Serial Number: Use this to add a new serial number.
- Batch Actions: First click on checkboxes in front of your serials, then perform actions on all the serials you have selected. The only available action currently is to "Assigning user(s)" to serial numbers for which you are the owner.
- Refresh: To reload the content from the server. The serial number status is not updated if it is changed in another browser or application. Make sure to refresh to be sure you are up to date.
- Users: View the list of users who are assigned to at least one of the serials that you own. If you select one of the user, then click on the button "Filter: On/Off", you will view only the serial numbers for which that user is assigned to.
3. The Licenses table
-
License groups: all your serial numbers are grouped by application. Each group indicates:
- the Latest version available for that application on our website (does not include the pre-release versions available through our support desk). You can click the download icon to be redirected to the application's download page.
- the total number of licenses, how many are still available (not activated), and how many are in use (activated)
-
Serial numbers details: then all the serials lines contain:
- The serial
-
Description: Describes what the serial number is valid for.
-
The type of license:
- Main: this is the first license you have ordered. You must have at least one "Main" license for your application to be activated
- Version Upgrade: this shows up if you purchased an upgrade to go from version 3 to version 4 for example
- Option Add-on: this shows up if you added an option lated on
-
The type of license:
- Channels: Some serial numbers allow you to enable multiple channels (such as the S|40, S|80...). This shows the number of channels provided by your license.
- Owner: The icon of the user who owns the license is displayed. The license owner can add and remove users.
- Users: Shows all the users assigned to the license.
-
Status: Displays the current status of the license along with the name of the computer using it:
- available
- in use
- Delete Icon: Remove the serial from your serials. Will only be possible if you are the owner AND that the license is "Available" (i.e. not activated on a computer). If you don't have access to the computer anymore, you may have to do a Force Release.
- “…” icon: Access the license detailed view.
The License Detailed View
To view the License Detailed View, click on the three dots at the end of the serial number listing, or double-click on a serial number.
In this window, you’ll find more information about the serial number, some that are already visible in the table, but you'll also be able to do a "Force Release", or check the history of your serial.
Information
- Application: Which application the serial number is for
- Version: Version of the application the serial number is for
- Issue Date: At which date the serial number was generated (usually the date of purchase)
- Description: The options available
- Channels: How many channels the serial allows you to use
- Owner: Who is the owner of the license
- History: Access the complete history of the license, including detailed records of each connection date, the current user, the MAC address of the devices utilizing the license, and any new users added to the license. The History section displays a maximum of 50 recent operations. If there are more than 50, older entries will not be visible.
- Authorized Users: In this section, the owner can assign user(s) to the license (the same way he can do it with the "batch action menu" in the list).
Possible actions
At the bottom left of the window, you will be able to do some of the following actions (depending on the status of the license):
- Remove Serial: Available if the license status is "Available" (i.e. NOT activated on a computer). Use this option to remove the serial from your serials.
- Force Release: Available if the license status is "In use" (i.e. activated on a computer). Do a force release only if you don't have access to the computer where the license is activated anymore and want to use it on another computer.
Edit your profile
In the header > Profile menu, click on “Edit your Profile” to update your profile information, including First and Last Name, Company, Password...
At the bottom, you can also change the appearance of the platform: Light - Auto - Dark
